Barbara W. Moser, Founding Partner

Ms. Moser’s practice includes all aspects of the trial and settlement of complex marital dissolutions, including premarital, cohabitation and separation agreements, spousal and child support, custody and visitation, complex asset characterization and division issues, including a special emphasis on the analysis of stock options, and contests to the validity of premarital agreements. Ms. Moser gave expert testimony in a highly contested case concerning the validity of a postnuptial agreement in the State of Israel, Law Courts in Jerusalem, Israel. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Moser was a clinical social worker for over five years, working with families in distress. Ms. Moser currently spends a great deal of her time serving as a consultant and strategist to litigants and attorneys in complex cases for clients with high net worth, assisting with the settlement of contentious cases.

Ms. Moser frequently serves as a Pro Tem Settlement Judge for the Family Law Bench Bar program in the Marin County Superior Court, and as a Settlement Judge in the San Francisco Superior Court, and has served on the board of Kids’ Turn (a non-profit program which helps children whose parents are separated or divorced) for five years. Ms. Moser is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, was a consultant to the Family Law Subcommittee of the CEB Joint Advisory Committee, and was formerly appointed to a member of the American Bar Association Family Law Section’s Marital Property Committee. She also served as an Arbitrator for the Bar Association of San Francisco Fee Dispute Panel. Ms. Moser is a lifetime member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Ms. Moser was a contributing editor of Approaching a Marital Dissolution and was a consultant for the Action Guide, Planning and Conducting Family Law Discovery, published by the California Continuing Education of the Bar. She recently contributed to The Road To Independence, a book published by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession. Ms. Moser lectures statewide for CEB and other organizations on issues including How to Have a Fiscally Sound Marriage, How to Handle a Marital Dissolution, and Estate Planning in the Context of Divorce. Ms. Moser was a featured radio guest on public radio station KALW’s “Your Legal Rights” on the subject of Premarital Agreements. Ms. Moser volunteers for and was the Co-Chair of the Kids’ Turn Gala in 2011 and 2012.  She has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Northern California Lawyers and one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers by SuperLawyers annually since 2011.

Ms. Moser served on the University of San Francisco School of Law Board of Governors, guest lectures at local Law Schools on issues including family law practice, business valuations, and child and spousal support, and was a founding member and serves as a Mentor for University of San Francisco’s Women Lawyers Committee Mentor Program. She is a member of The Battery in San Francisco and is an active participant in the Battery Powered Philanthropy Program.
